How to read and reuse it

  • Geographic basis: totals are assigned to the award's place of performance, not necessarily the recipient's headquarters or where every dollar was ultimately spent.
  • Per-capita caution: the placeholder_pct field identifies totals tied to bulk-recipient labels such as “MULTIPLE RECIPIENTS” or “REDACTED DUE TO PII”; compare high per-capita values with that disclosure before drawing conclusions.
  • License: the underlying federal data is public domain. Cite the dataset version and link to this page so readers can inspect the methodology and current vintage.
