Corrections

If an award total, agency rollup, county or state aggregate, ranking, or derived share on PlainSpending looks wrong, report it with enough detail to reproduce the page and compare it with USASpending.gov. The same process is documented in our editorial and corrections policy.

How to report

  1. Report. Email hello@plainspending.com or use the contact page with the page URL, the figure that looks off, and what you think it should be.
  2. Source. Include a link to the USASpending.gov award, agency, or recipient record you think we should match.
  3. Scope. Say whether the issue is a raw Treasury field, a derived ranking or coverage figure, a fiscal-year window, or a stale vintage badge.

What happens next

We verify reports against USASpending.gov and correct confirmed issues in the underlying database and pipeline so affected pages update together. Material fixes are noted on the public data changelog. PlainSpending is an informational federal-spending reference, not financial, tax, or legal advice.

When the figure is correct on our side but the upstream USASpending file is lagged or provisional, we will say so and point you to the official record. Federal award data revises as agencies correct submissions; always confirm time-sensitive totals on USASpending.gov before relying on a snapshot.

The public correction route was added on August 9, 2026. Reports are checked against data from the relevant USASpending.gov award, agency, or recipient record; confirmed errors are fixed in the shared source data rather than on one page alone.
